LAKE ORION, Mich., Aug. 18, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, American Battery Solutions, Inc. - one of the nation's leading commercial and industrial advanced battery systems manufacturers - is pleased to announce its new Energy Storage System division, branded ABS ESS.

ABS ESS is unveiling TeraStor™, its new lithium-ion battery energy storage platform, specifically for large-scale energy storage projects. Additionally, ABS ESS is releasing StorView™, its Energy Management Suite of software and control hardware to optimize TeraStor™ performance, market participation, and financial performance.

“Leveraging our track record for driving battery energy innovation, and developing and testing new technologies and chemistries with our advanced engineering team, ABS again demonstrates our dedication in support of the energy transition,” said Subhash Dhar, Chairman and CEO of American Battery Solutions, Inc. “There is a critical need for both hardware and software intended for stationary energy storage needs, especially following the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which intends to fund so much utility-scale storage. We are confident that ABS ESS and its leadership team can bring our products to market and meet the growing demand for energy storage systems.”

ABS TeraStor™ was designed and developed by industry leaders—Bud Collins, VP and GM, Michael Hoff, CTO, Greg Tremelling, VP of Product Development, and Rick Cwiakala, VP of Operations & Service—who have deployed over 1.5 GWh of storage around the globe. This group has teamed up with the goal of significantly reducing the complexity of large-scale battery storage.

The TeraStor™ battery energy storage platform offers energy storage customers a safe, efficient, and reliable energy storage system that is easy to purchase, install and operate. This storage platform is engineered to optimize lithium-ion cell life and performance—while minimizing stranded cell capacity to deliver greater output and availability throughout the system’s life.

TeraStor™ offers more than 7.2 megawatt hours (MWh) of storage and 3.5 MW of integrated inverter capacity. With its self-powered design, requiring no auxiliary AC infrastructure, a fully integrated liquid cooling system—which eliminates all on-site HVAC installation—and a sixty percent increase in energy density, this battery energy storage platform allows customers to achieve significant cost and time savings compared to other energy storage systems. Additionally, by using TeraStor™, ABS ESS can deploy an ultra-high density of 600 MWhs of energy per acre.

Each TeraStor™ arrives factory-packaged and tested, eliminating major on-site component integration. It can be installed and ready for commissioning within six hours—a record setting pace compared to weeks or months for a conventional system. TeraStor systems are the most energy dense per footprint, accommodating the most space-challenged sites while meeting the strictest international safety standards. Mean-time for repair and upgrades are minimized with modular energy storage and power conversion components.

Also, ABS ESS in-person interactive training ensures complete and adequate response to every on-site contingency.

StorView™ advanced software and controls hardware that monitors all aspects of TeraStor™ conditions with advanced algorithms to determine its precise status and condition. StorView™ software is an easy-to-use interface that enables intuitive set-ups, controls, and operations. A simple, single point, industry-standard interface coupled with known third-party energy management systems. Warranty conditions are continuously compared against original and current expectations to proactively plan for changing application requirements.

ABS ESS secure online pre-sale sizing and configurators make it easy to determine the appropriate amount of storage for your application. For more information on TeraStor™ & StorView™, please visit www.americanbatterysolutions.com/ess/ess-home

FiveT Hydrogen CEO Pierre-Etienne Franc joins Yahoo Finance Live to discuss the importance of hydrogen fuel for decarbonization and the outlook for the industry in the wake of Amazon's partnership with Plug Power.

Investors are piling into solar energy stocks and other green companies, thanks to the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act.

Plug Power (ticker: PLUG) agreed to provide 10,950 tons per year of liquid green hydrogen starting in 2025 to help decarbonize Amazon’s operations as part of its commitment to be net-zero carbon by 2040, the company said in a news release Thursday. Amazon (AMZN) will start to use green hydrogen to replace grey hydrogen, diesel, and other fossil fuels. The nearly 11,000 tons under the Plug Power -Amazon deal would be enough fuel to power, perhaps, 1,000 to 2,000 heavy duty trucks for a year.

California is about to launch an experiment to cover aqueducts with solar panels, a plan that if scaled up might save billions of gallons of otherwise evaporated water while powering millions of homes. Project Nexus in the Turlock Irrigation District launches in mid-October amid Western North America's worst drought in 1,200 years and as human-influenced climate change exacerbates the dry spell. Based on a similar project in the west Indian state of Gujarat, the project is the first of its kind in the United States, said University of California Merced project scientist Brandi McKuin.

California plans to require all new cars, trucks and SUVs to run on electricity or hydrogen by 2035 under a policy approved Thursday by regulators that seeks a dramatic cut in carbon emissions and an eventual end to gasoline-powered vehicles.

Plenty of challenges lie ahead as California mandates zero-emission cars, including cost and access to charging.

Energy bills are set to rise sharply in October, when a new price cap is introduced.

California set itself on a path Thursday to end the era of gas-powered cars, with air regulators adopting the world's most stringent rules for transitioning to zero-emission vehicles. The move by the California Air Resources Board to have all new cars, pickup trucks and SUVs be electric or hydrogen by 2035 is likely to reshape the U.S. auto market, which gets 10% of its sales from the nation's most populous state. “It’s going to be very hard getting to 100%,” said Daniel Sperling, a board member and founding director of the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California, Davis.

BENGALURU (Reuters) -India's top IT services firms are freezing or cutting staff bonuses, worried that tightening budgets at U.S. and European clients who are bracing for a recession will sharply hit their own profits after a pandemic-led boom.
