Erection of the steel terracing and raking beams at Everton FC’s new stadium at Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock has started.

The 52,888 capacity stadium is being delivered by Laing O’Rourke, who started construction last summer. So far the contractor has completed the piling, following the dredging and infilling of the dock basin. In February, the contractor began casting the concrete segments that will form the stadium’s superstructure and in May the 18t internal column in the north western quadrant, which will be annexed to the concrete elevation, was installed.

With the concrete foundational blocks now in place in all four corners of the stadium, the steel framework is quickly coming into place. Steel protruding from the concrete cores now has the raking beams installed on the upper levels in the north eastern and north western edges of the site.

On the ground level, steelwork has been built out of the foundations. Concrete lattice slabs have been laid on two levels and will be conjoined next month. This section also features angled raking beams.

Steel raking beams are also beginning to form on the single-tier south stand, which will hold 13,000 fans. The concrete lattice slabs for the separate levels of the concourse are also being put in place.

These raking beams will soon house the precast concrete terracing units, with installation beginning in the next few months. Laing O’Rourke’s supply chain partner Banagher is manufacturing around 3,400 of these precast units at its factory in Republic of Ireland and they will be delivered by boat to Liverpool docks.

The stadium is on track to complete in 2024, in time for the 2024-25 season.
