Harbor extension and jetty construction project of HA. Dhihdhoo, well underway

The first shipment of precast concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction of the harbor extension and jetty construction project of Dhihdhoo island in Haa Alif atoll, have been delivered.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the first shipment of precast concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction was delivered to the project site on Tuesday.

MTCC is currently conducting the harbor basin dredging operations of the project.

The company revealed that they are required to dredge and excavate a total of 78,000 cubic meters under the scope of the project.

Further, they are also required to construct a 616-meter breakwater, a revetment measuring 185 meters as well as a quay wall measuring 326 meters.

The scope of the project also includes the installation of harbor pavement measuring a total of 4,320 square meters.

Harbor lights will also be installed as part of the project.

The project is valued at MVR 69.8 million.

MTCC was contracted the project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, Infrastructure on 11 January 2021.

The contract was signed by Director General Fathimath Shaana Farooq on behalf of the ministry and Shahid Hussain Moosa, the COO of MTCC on behalf of the company.

The project was contracted to be completed within 365 days.
